Nik has over 20 years experience of feature film production, financing, sales and distribution and has worked with market leading media companies, he joins the Hatton & Berkeley Media and Entertainment division in 2016 and is the owner of Solo Media Distribution;


HISTORY

Originally from Stockholm, Sweden, Nik moved to London in 1984. With over 20 years experience in the film industry, in a variety of roles, beginning as a production runner at Pinewood Studios, to an assistant director on numerous films shooting in the UK, US, Canada and Europe, to producing films; including DETAILS, starring Pernilla August and Michael Nyqvist which received critical acclaim and subsequently won a Swedish Academy Award and thriller NINE MILES DOWN directed by Anthony Waller and starring Adrian Paul and Kate Nauta.

In 2008 Nik went on to co-found and run G2 Pictures; a film distribution company with operations in the UK, Scandinavia and the Benelux. G2 released over 90 films including Nick Moran’s TELSTAR starring Kevin Spacey and James Corden, THE EXPERIMENT starring Adrien Brody and Forest Whitaker, James Gunn’s SUPER starring Kevin Bacon, Liv Tyler, Ellen Page and Rainn Wilson, EVERYTHING MUST GO starring Will Farrell, the Australian no1 smash hit RED DOG starring Josh Lucas, thriller THE TALL MAN starring Jessica Biel and Tony Kaye’s DETATCHMENT starring Adrien Brody, Christina Hendricks, Bryan Cranston and James Caan.

In 2012, Nik orchestrated the sale of G2 Pictures to the German media giant Koch Media and until January 2014 acted as the Head of Business Development for Film which included setting up their UK theatrical team and heading up film acquisitions across multiple territories. The first release under Nik’s guidance and the new Koch banner was ARBITRAGE starring Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon and Tim Roth, which achieved an impressive £1.5m result in the UK box office. Subsequent releases included the $65m budget actioner RED DAWN starring Chris Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson, comedy THANKS FOR SHARING starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim Robbins and Mark Ruffalow, thriller THE FROZEN GROUND starring Nicolas Cage, John Cusack and Vanessa Hudgens, comedy STUCK IN LOVE starring Jennifer Connelly, Greg Kinnear and Lilly Collins and drama PARKLAND produced by Tom Hanks, starring Paul Giamatti, Zac Effron, Billy Bob Thornton, Marcia Gay Harden and Jaki Weaver.

Other notable acquisitions include comedy HECTOR AND THE SEARCH FOR HAPPINESS directed by Peter Chelsom and starring Simon Pegg, Rosamond Pike, Stellan Skarsgard and Jean Reno, historical comedy BILL, a co-production together with BBC Films and the BFI from the creative team behind both the successfulHorrible Histories and Yonderland TV series, romantic comedy AND SO IT GOES directed by Rob Reiner and starring Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton, comedy drama FRANNY starring Richard Gere and the soon to be horror classic CHEAP THRILLS. As well as the above Nik was also responsible for negotiating a multi title TV output deal with MGM and spearheading a production relationship with BBC Films and the BFI.

Since leaving Koch, Nik launched Solo Media in April 2014, a new distribution venture with an emphasis on digital and TV distribution as well as DVD and theatrical with the aim of 24 to 30 releases per year. Solo’s initial slate included thriller THE TRIALS OF CATE MCCALL starring Kate Beckinsale and Nick Nolte, drama ROB THE MOB starring Andy Garcia, Michael Pitt and Ray Romano, thriller FELONY starring Joel Edgerton, Tom Wilkinson, Jai Courtney and Melissa George, coming of age comedy A BIRDER’S GUIDE TO EVERYTHING starring Ben Kingsley, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Katie Chang, action comedy IN SECURITY starring Vinnie Jones, Alan Arkin, Cary Elwes and Ving Rhames and comedy EXPECTING starring Michelle Monaghan and Radha Mitchell.
